How can digital tools reveal, reinforce, or obscure gaps in health knowledge?

How can we identify and respond to gaps between people's lived health experiences and the systems designed to serve them?

How is health among urban communities measured and understood, and why does it matter? In this Humanities Lab, students will investigate how we come to know and understand the health of urban communities. What role should community perspectives, language, culture, and digital technologies play in revealing what traditional measures have overlooked or misunderstood? Students will analyze real-world data alongside community perspectives to investigate how different forms of evidence reveal different understandings of urban health. Teams will then translate their findings into public-facing projects that reveal how different ways of measuring and understanding health can reshape conversations and inform decisions.
