About the outcome
Historically, racism has been a latent problem within the United States' society and institutions. Our research question is how racism impacts different generations in four aspects: the public and private sphere as well as technology and the justice system. To raise social awareness about this topic, we will initiate a racial justice campaign at both the ASU Tempe and Downtown campuses so that we can have a broader impact. In addition, we will record some podcasts or videos of how racism has impacted the lives of multiple generations.
About the team
I am Agni Garduno, an exchange Political Science senior student from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My main areas of research are political philosophy, comparative politics, policymaking on health issues, and racial and Latinx studies. I have participated in debates, conferences, and seminars in my local university, with the Guanajuato University, and in the World Future Studies Federation. Also, I have been invited to the national TV program of the Justice Supreme Court in Mexico to discuss immigration, gender gap, mental health, and politics. About my public career, I have presented a law initiative with other colleagues in the Mexican Senate.
My name is Justin Torres and I am studying Business Finance, Sustainability, and Global Politics. Helping others has always been a passion of mine. Since I was a young child, I was taught to give back to my community, to be fair to one another, to be kind to one another, and to be compassionate. Before deciding to triple major in Business Finance, Sustainability, and Global Leadership, I was a Criminal Justice major. My ultimate career goal is to establish and develop a conglomerate company with multiple entities, focusing on residential and commercial real estate, hospitality, financial advising and investments. Beginning by investing in residential and multifamily real estate, I hope to establish hospitality resorts with different themes by region that are designed to be modern and contemporary while maintaining integral sustainability practices.
I am Syncere Dixon, a Computer Science major originally from Montgomery, Alabama. I moved to Arizona about 6 years ago. Science and technology have always been subjects that are interesting to me and my goal is to have a career in them. I excel in problem solving and multitasking. I am currently expanding my knowledge of computer science such as coding and data research.
My name is Brady Judson. I am from Spokane, Washington and I am majoring in criminology and criminal justice. I have always been interested in criminal law ever since I was really young. I have also always wanted to get involved in helping people and keeping people safe. Criminology and criminal justice can help me better understand the system and the laws and the way they work.
My name is Tayandre Wright. I am from the San Carlos Apache Tribe which is here in Arizona and I am majoring in civil engineering. Back home our community lacks leaders and engineers and I want to return there when I achieve my degree and be our tribe's civil engineer. With that I will take on projects, make a change, motivate our youth and be one of the first civil engineers to come from my hometown.
