Humanizing Digital Culture

Summer 2024 | Session B

i/oCourse

How has culture been affected by technology and the digital age?

—————————————————————

Has this created new opportunities?

—————————————————————

Have these opportunities been positive, negative or neutral for the world? For you?

—————————————————————

Is it important to create a people-first, collaborative culture in the digital age? If so, how can we humanize digital culture?

How can we humanize digital culture?

Working together, Lab participants consider how digital culture is (re)shaping human identity and investigate the dual power of humankind's relationship to technology to create empathy while also causing real-world harm. What does it mean to be human in a digital world? How does digital identity determine how we relate to each other and the planet? How do we define and demonstrate human identity now and in the future? Working in teams, create original responses to humanize digital technologies.

Seize the Moment

This Lab is presented through Seize the Moment, an initiative of Leonardo, the Humanities Lab, and the Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University. In an alarming syndemic of intersecting crises—the coronavirus pandemic, racial injustice and accompanying civil unrest, and cascading environmental hazards—Seize the Moment addresses the grand challenges of the day through transdisciplinary arts, science, technological, and humanities collaborations in research, pedagogy, and public engagement. Leonardo Labs

Presented in partnership with Leonardo, the Leonardo Lab Series uses a unique arts, science, and technology perspective to understand and address social problems in an ever-changing, technological world. Working in new media art forms like augmented reality, experimental publishing platforms and more, students navigate the complex challenges humans face amidst increasing mediation, finding opportunities for liberation, self-determination, connection, and joy. To learn more about Leonardo, visit their website at http://leonardo.asu.edu
